I had a bad experience with Woolworths Mall of the South. I received a few small samples of the VIP212 Rose EDP perfume with one of my purchases. I used the samples and fell in love with it. I then went to buy the perfumes, which to my surprise the smell was fading within 20min, which was not the case with the bottles of the samples i had received. I then tried this perfume on a few different people and it still faded away. I then returned it to Woolworths Rosebank Mall, the Beauty Store Manager also tested the perfume and agreed that its fading. She said although Woolworth policy states that the perfume may not returned once opened (which was not explained to me and is not written on the back of the till slip like other return policies) she would gladly assist as my reason for returning made sense as this could have been the manufacturing issue. But then suggested that i return it to the store where i bought since they might have stock issues when they have to return it to the Mall of the South. I then went back to Mall of the South (inconvenience and cost 44km). The store Manager who was present at the time said the Beauty department store Manager was off and that he will speak to him the next day (Monday) as there are processes that needs to be followed which he was not fami**** with and get him to contact me and give me feedback. On Monday afternoon around 15h00 I called as I had not received any feedback. The Beauty store Manager then told me that he was GOING to call me, that he has spoken to the supplier and the supplier will come to the store before Friday and test the perfume and will then advice him. On Friday afternoon I CALLED AGAIN, he said he was ABOUT TO CALL ME and that they cannot exchange it as it was opened and that the supplier did not come and will not come to the store and told me to lodge a complaint with customer service if i was not happy. I then logged a call with customer service - the consultant spoke to the Mall of the South Manager and called me back to say the store will send the perfume to them and they send it to the supplier for testing and will give me feedback on my Monday. My argument is that: 1. I returned the perfume because it does not do what it was supposed to do which is to enhance my scent. I understand perfumes has different chemical reaction on individuals, but this one was fading and was tested on different people and doing the same. I would not have known if i did not open it and tried it on. Their return policy is irrelevant in this case. 2. I had a transaction with Woolworths, hence i returned the perfume to them, what happens between them and their supplier is non of my business. 3. The Manager was unprofessional - no feedback on 2 occasions and he claimed he was going to call me. 4. How did the supplier promised to come collect the perfume to have it tested and all of a sudden he cannot come because the return policy states that the once the perfume is opened, it can not be returned. Where is that written? I felt that he was just dismissing me. 5. The perfume that Woolworths sold me is not doing what the perfume is supposed to do. I have been a loyal Woolworths customer and i must say i am so disappointed with the services at Mall of the South. There is a huge service between the staff there and the staff at Rosebank Mall in General
