Return policy bordering on *********

Woolworths has a policy with returns in that if you return an item without a slip it will be refunded to you at the system price albeit marked down.

My daughter received a candy grabber toy for Christmas which was purchased on 15 December 2015. The toy was purchased for R399. The toy was available during the Christmas period and I would imagine was part of the christmas range as gift ideas. Just before Christmas they marked them down to R199. Meaning that if a gift is returned, Woolworths pocket R200, not a bad profit! Remember when the gift is opened!

Unfortunately, like most woolworths toys, it did not work ( not the first time) so we took it back and was told that because I never had a slip I would receive the marked down price. Let's think about that, it's a gift, when do you give a receipt with a gift?

After an unnecessary discussion the full amount was returned in a voucher.

Whilst my issue was resolved, how many others were not. This tactic generates sizable profit regardless of condition of the product. To me it is simply *********!

I think the system needs to be reviewed to identify marked down stock
