Refused to exchange item

Refused to exchange an item with original tag because I didn't have a slip the item was a gift.They said they want a slip or where Item was purchased.I didn't know that now you need a slip for items having original price tag cause the item was small.I felt because I'm black and the lady refused to exchange for a bigger size item.Woolworths in Cavendish square Cape town.
