Price discrepancy

Good day, I was at Woolworths Mall of the North in Polokwane before purchasing I confirmed with one of the employees if the 50% sale was still on and she confirmed that everything in the Baby section was 50% off. I realised, after paying, that one item had not been discounted. I informed the supervisor on duty about this and they were willing to refund me the difference. During that process there was a system glitch so they advised that I take something for the price difference which I agreed to.

The item I wanted was a Baby cotton sleepsack which was amongst the Baby items on the 50% off sale.

Once we got there, there was commotion between the staff and the Manager Johan Mare with employee number *** was reprimanding them about this incident. All notice boards stating the sale were taken down and the Baby cotton sleepsacks were removed from the floor.

I then explained to him what transpired and he totally belittled me and in a very condescending manner advised that those things were placed there in error and that it was a mistake. And I pointed out that since its their fault they need to account and refund me as it was their mistake not mine. He said I can either take the item at the price I paid for or they can refund me the R250. But under no circumstance will they refund me the R125 and give me the item. He completely contradicted the supervisor that firstly assisted me.

This is totally contradicting your policy as it clearly states "Woolworths has a 'wrong price policy'. According to a spokesperson, "when a price discrepancy exists between the price displayed or advertised or the product label price is lower than the price on the Point of Sale system, the customer will be given the first product for free and any additional same product will be charged at the lower price".

So why then was the above process not followed. I paid the R250 for the item and was not compensated in any way for the inconvenience. The lack of customer service displayed by Johan was appalling to say the least. I am highly dissapointed in the unprofessional manner he handled the situation.
