Poor Customer service was very unexpected

I bought my wife a bag at Woolworths in Feb. At the time, the bag cost R299. My wife used the bag less than 4 times as she has an array of bags to select from day to day.

The bag straps then started to break and leather tearing apart. I then went to Woolworths in Promenade (Mitchell’s Plain) without a slip in Cape Town near to my home. I stood in a que for 15min and then had to continue to wait for the manager who took his own sweet time to print a price history sheet.

The report then displayed that the bag was on sale and had been removed from the system and is reflecting an amount of 0.01 cent. He then told me due to their return policy regarding no slip and system amount reflection, that he cannot help me. I asked him what must I do with a broken bag?

Now to me that is very poor customer service as he could have given me my R299 on a gift card as I was anyways going to purchase a bag instore.

Instead I drove from Mitchells Plain to Cavendish Square in Claremont to have the bag taken back. I stood in the que, told the lady that I wanted to return this. She checked the system within 2min for the price history AND the supervisor, without hassles regarding price, returned my R299 on a gift card.

Question is, WHY can Woolworths Promenade not do this? I had to drive unnecessarily to Claremont to get the service that every customer should receive!

Please have Woolworths Promenade call me back and apologise for the most unbearable service.

Call me please on ********** .

So nobody can answer why in a poverty stricken community service is different to an upper class area such as Claremont?
