POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE & UNSCUPULOUS CREDIT LIMIT INCREASES

I went to buy some groceries at Woolworths Sanridge Square in Midrand, then the cashier printed a balance query, to my astonishment the balance owing was R3695.51. I had never authorized Woolworths to increase my credit limit to that amount; my limit has always been R1500. She then pointed me to a lady at another till point with a telephone and said I can be assisted from there. I approached the lady at that till, she then left and indicated that she will be back soon; I stood there for more than 10 minute and then I approached another staffer. That staffer was not even interested in helping me, as she left to talk to another employee in the middle of our conversation; that was the very same one who left me waiting for 10 minutes.

I called Woolworths the next day to enquire about this credit increase; I was then informed that it was increased automatically to R2830. I find this vey odd since the account balance was R3695.51. How was is it possible that my balance was R3695,51 with a credit limit of R2830; and on top of that without me consenting to that? The act clearly state that credit can be increased only with the authorization of the customer. How is then that Woolworths can increase my limit without my consent? This is clearly against the act and they must be taken to task.
