Poor Customer service at the customer service counter!

In attempting to exchange a gifted pair of sandals at customer service counter of N1 City branch of Woolworths, I was met by an unprofessional floor manager. A female with the surname Hendricks. While being assisted by the cashier, he was checking with her as his superior. She merely stood with her back to the counter and did not have the decency to turn to the front to acknowledge customers. The message was to take something of the same value, no other option. This after I informed the cashier that staff in the shoe section at Canal Walk said I could have the value placed on a gift card.
