Perfume at Woolworths

I received a perfume as a Christmas gift, but unfortunately, after using it, I discovered that it makes me feel extremely ill due to my severe sinus problems. I contacted the person who bought the perfume for me, and they provided proof of payment through their bank statement and confirmation of the bank account.

I then called Woolworths Somerset, where the perfume was purchased on December 24th, and spoke with someone in the perfume department. They assured me that both the employee and their manager would call me back, but more than an hour has passed, and I still haven’t heard from anyone.

I’m left wondering what could be so complicated about exchanging a product, and why I felt unwelcome when making my request. I thought Woolworths prided itself on putting customers first—are only select customers given that priority?

Come on, Woolworths Somerset West, you can do better. Please have your manager call me!

Woolworths I am extremely disappointed with the way you handle my recent issue. I received a perfume as a gift, but when I approached your store to request an exchange due to an adverse reaction it caused, I was told that it couldn’t be exchanged because I had opened it. As the recipient of the gift, I was not expected to leave it unopened, and how would I know that the perfume would make me sick unless I used it?The situation seems deeply unfair, not only to me, as the recipient of the gift, but also to the person who spent R1600 purchasing it for me. Your manager insists that the product is fine, but I never claimed there was anything wrong with it. I explained that it caused me a very extreme allergic reaction, which could be different from what another customer might experience.Furthermore, it’s unfair that your staff did not inform the buyer on the day of purchasing the product about your perfume policy, yet now I am being told about it. Your focus should be on customer care, not just on making sales. I believe Woolworths can do better in handling such situations.I respectfully request a resolution to this matter. I do not agree with the statement made by your manager regarding the product being opened and therefore ineligible for exchange. As the recipient of a gift, it should not be my fault that I opened it, especially when I had no way of knowing it would make me so sick. Please provide a clear and fair response to my concern. Thank you.
