Passing the buck for a problem they created

In July 2016, I received an SMS from DMC collections saying I need to pay the monthly installment on my Woolworths credit card debt that they had bought from Woolworths. I spent hours on the phone to Woolworths and DMC trying to understand what was happening, since I have never had a Woolworths credit card. Woolworths told me continuously that they could not give me details as they had sold the debt to DMC and DMC saying they had not received details from Woolworths yet...... I have tried consistently since July to resolve the issue. To my horror my application to open a new mobile account was declined today and I was told it was due to "my" unpaid Woolworths/DMC debt. 4 months after first making contact with Woolworths, I have had no reply whatsoever to any of my queries. I was copied into a string of emails today where a Mr Zaahir Simon assures DMC that "I will see if I can get the [client's] contract from our data warehouse, please note that I have addressed the issue with our Mi department to look into making the visa statement more efficient". This has cost me a black mark on my credit record and a transaction that I entered into this week. I am extremely disappointed in Woolworths and if this is how they treat "debtors" that are not even debtors, then I shudder to think how they treat their real debtors! Disgusted.
