Outstandingly bad service - Woolworths Cafe Willowbridge

This has not been my first bad experience with Woolworths Home and Food at Willowbridge, Cape Town, but yesterday (the 3rd of June 2017) just pushed to the point of writing this official complaint. Which I hope will be taken seriously enough to implement changes that will lead to improved customer service.

Yesterday I took my mother and aunt to the above mentioned Cafe. First we waited a while for someone to seat us, despite most of the staff seeing that we were standing there. A waiter then directed us to a small table of which he “smacked” two tables together, took his hand and wiped some milk that was left behind by a previous customer and then left us to figure out where we would get the chairs from to actually sit down. We then requested that our table be wiped down – one would think that it would be of standard and basic service to be hygienic!

After another while of waiting for our drinks order to be taken, we ordered our food. We requested that the burger we ordered exclude cheese and the Napoleon chicken schnitzel to come with rye bread. After waiting a very long time, we received a burger with cheese on a cold bun and fries thrown to the side, a chicken schnitzel on ciabatta and butter chicken dish that basically mushed chicken and rice.

We told the waiter that was serving us that we were unhappy and without an apology and an uninterested look, he took our dishes (no word of whether it would be replaced, or ask if we would like to order anything else). I then asked to speak to the manager (Charlton) of which I was told was not on duty. I then asked who was the second in charge person, and he said himself. Still no apology.

I left my name and number and requested that the manager call me the next day and more than 24 hours later and I still got no call.

I have, on number occasions received this kind of “sloppy” attitude of staff at the Woolworths Willowbridge Café. On many occasions my orders were wrong and no apologies and I still ended up paying for it. The staff takes no interest in executing proper service to customers. On one occasion I was told to pay my bill and leave as they were closing – and this was not even in a polite manner.

I have had enough of this kind of bad service that we as customers have to tolerate. We are not asking for our food to be given to us free of charge, we pay good prices for good service and good food. Woolworths prides itself on good quality in all areas, however, the service at Willowbridge Café does not speak to it one bit. Clearly there are competency issues in all compartments. From the manager, to waiters, to kitchen staff. This is unacceptable!

I trust that this will be addressed and not a single customer sitting at this place will ever have to experience what we have.

Most disappointed.
