Offline - Making this the customers fault

I'm a devoted Woolworths patron. I love shopping at the stores. I'm normally humble and respectful towards those I'm interacting with in the stores. Most of the time you get excellent service however every now and then something happens and makes you feel like boycotting the store just because such a person is working at such a premium retail outlet. Woolworths Brooklyn is a busy store, sometimes you have to wait in line for a very long time to get to the till after you have completed your grocery shopping - again no problem there. Today at around 15:45, I get to the till, unpack my groceries, even brought my reusable woolies shopping bags, ring everything up and hand over my card. The cashier tells me that there has been an 'offline' problem all day. My card doesn't go through, she tries again, and again. By this time the floor manager is at the till. This floor manager was super condescending - demanding I should pay cash or go draw money. Unapologetic, abdicating responsibility. The ques are long, people's cards are being declined all around and she's having a go at me and has no care in the world that other people waiting in line will also be affected. There are no signs saying that they can't accept cards, no one speaking to the customers. Just the floor manager having a great attitude towards a customer who has at this point become irritated and somewhat humiliated by what is going on. The floor manager LIES to me when I ask her questions and says this is a countrywide BANKING PROBLEM. I know this is a load of BS because I just used the card at Clicks. She then insists I pay cash or go draw cash. I said no, I won't draw cash, what is your plan B for this sort of problem? Nothing, she can't help me. There's another woman behind me who's card is also not being accepted, people are queuing and no Woolworths staff could be bothered to inform customers of this issue. The floor manager then started taking the shopping out of the trolley. I got so annoyed with her I grabbed the other bags and just threw them upside down onto the counter - because this is exactly how I felt this woman was treating me. As I walked away she made snide comments about my behaviour. You know what, no I don't think so. You don't get to blame the customer for being rightfully irritated about this situation. Someone like that who has no concern for Woolworths customers, wastage - like the rotisserie chicken that can't be sold and will probably end up in the bin, the humiliation caused and to add insult to injury make snide remarks to a customer for something that has nothing to do with me - your till system being offline is not my fault. Where's your back up plan for situations like this? And what gives this floor manager the right to speak to customers this way? Seriously Woolworths, get rid of people like this. I'm probably going to boycott Brooklyn for a long time now as a result of this woman's attitude. After this horrible incident, I went to Spar, their till system was working just fine and I ended up paying R150.00 less for the same / similar stuff. That's the result of treating customers this way.
