Not clear return and exchange policy

So I received a gift from a friend of mine, early Christmas present.. However he never gave me a receipt for it.. And it had no price tag on it because obviously it was a gift.. It was a Style from SA or something jacket that apparently cost R1499, from what I know if you do not have a receipt for something bought at Woolies they can gladly exchange whatever but at the current system price.. When I got to Century City Woolworths notify the security that I have an item to exchange however I do not have a receipt.. I was told to go to Customer Service.. Upon getting there I was told Stlye by SA products cannot be exchanged without a receipt because other boutiques sell the Stlye by SA brand.. Boutiques other than Woolies.. Never mind the fact that all Woolies garments have a label inside that's branded Woolies.. But because I didn't notice that the jacket had I didn't argue the statement told.. Only when I pulled up at my house I called my friend that is in Nigeria at the moment because I did not have a choice but alert him that the jacket wasn't actually my Stlye and I would like to exchange it for something and would like the receipt he told he doesn't have it with him and that he was in Nigeria for the festive season.. I then went back to the store to the same guy to find out that how could it be that other boutiques sell something that's got Woolworths banded label on the garment.. I was then referred to the clothing manager who couldn't explain why exactly they wouldn't exchange the jacket for me who then called a manager at the beauty section who told me that they will not exchange for me because it's high price.. Rightfully enough it's high price but I was never informed to begin with that they don't exchange stuff that's high priced without a receipt.. The beauty manager was utterly rude and I was treated like some sort of ***** that I actually took the jacket from the floor and returned it when I had shown the security at the door what it was prior to me entering.. He then called Customer Service call centre and it was explained to me that it's probably because it high priced.. I then asked the Customer Service agent if whether I could get a return/exchange policy that actually states perhaps to teach others that didn't know of this he said the store would be able to give me that.. The beauty manager after dropping the call said he will not print a policy for me because I'm not an employee of Woolworths.. I'm dismayed and disgusted by how this was handled and it seemed like he had some sort of emotional problems judging at how sensitive this whole thing was to him.. Upon asking for at least something that's in written form he asked someone to type a letter starting that he will not exchange the item for me because it was high priced.. I guess that's his return/exchange policy.. ☝?️Clearly Woolworths has hidden clauses that they need to teach their loyal customers about.. What's the point of having a slogan "Making a Difference" when they actually not?? I feel I was disrespectful and made to look like a fool in front of other customers after being a loyal customer for many years!! The least you can do is have a CLEAR return/exchange policy for us customers.. I'm disappointed at how this was handled.. And perhaps had it been said to me in the first place that it's high priced I wouldn't be on this tip, but they failed and I feel it needs to be known.. Thanks for NOT Making a Difference Woolworths.. But I hope one day you will live up to your standards and what you actually stand for!!
