Lost gift card confusion
I visited one of my favorite woolies store in century city, was assisted by a very friendly lady at the tills. She provided me with a gift card for my refund. Unfortunately I lost the card an hour later. Went back to store with my receipt and I asked one of the ladies from management if there is anything she can do for me. She took the receipt and was surprised by the outcome. She informed me that the card had no money, seemingly I had come back to make a return of R161 using the card and had also purchased for R500 using the card. This did not make sense to me at all because 1) I had R82. 60 on the card 2) How was it possible for the person who had picked up my card to make a purchase of R500? The lady asked me to wait for 10 minutes while she was looking into it for me. 35 minutes later lady came back with more confusing news that she has gone through the cctv footage and it showed that I was given the card. I was disgusted by this because I did not claim that the card was not issued to me, I told her from the get go that I had lost and wanted to know if there was anything they could do provided that I had proof of purchase. Furthermore, she informed me that the other two transactions SHOWING ON THE CARD were actually done using the pink card whereas I was given a black card? Who can another card transaction reflect under my missing card? She had no another to my question, she apologized that there was absolutely nothing she could do for me.
Having worked for Marks and Spencer, which is woolworths sister company has taught me a great deal about customer service, the one I have received on Saturday was atrocious. I expect upstanding service every time I walk into a woolies. I want reimbur*****t for my time and for being indirectly accused of dishonest in a form of an E-gift card, going back to the store would be very inconvenient for me.
Disappointed customer.
