Intentional negligence with plastic pieces in Woolworths Canal Walk cafe
On the 11 May we visited Woolworths café in Canal Walk. We ordered the blended ice/frozen Tiramasu latte with our meal. We noticed that there were bigger clear pieces in the drink but initially assumed that this was ice that wasn’t blended properly. Halfway through the drink we discovered that this was actually plastic pieces. I informed the manager Coco Hendricks and upon further investigation she noted that the person who made the drink said that the plastic part of the blender had shattered and the plastic parts fell into the drink. The person who made the drink and the waitress checked through the drink to ascertain whether there was any other plastic pieces in the drink and saw ‘none’. They served us that drink including the plastic pieces which we had consumed.
Being a Saturday and the regular Doctor not being available, we rushed home and to the nearest pharmacy in Fish Hoek and they advised to eat bananas and activated charcoal. Throughout the rest of the weekend we experienced severe cramps with sharp pains. On Monday we had to take off work to go to the Dr.
I emailed *** on the 11 May, I emailed *** on the 13 May, I called the contact number ***17 May, 21 May and 23 May 2024 (Rizqah) to which I was promised feedback and a phone call by the Manager Zuhair Williams but that didn’t happen.
To date I have received NO Correspondence from Woolworths not even a return call except for a reference number ***7 – ***
