Infuriated with Woolworths Financial Services
I’m NOT impressed by Woolworths Financial Services. I use a Woolworths credit card, mostly only when I shop at Woolworths. I’m an exemplary cardholder and always pay my entire balance ON or within 24 hours of the day that I receive my statement, which is mostly around the 16th or 17th of the month. Yesterday I received my 17 October statement, saw that it said that I hadn’t paid my September statement in the sum of R1585.53, checked, realized that something must have gone wrong and immediately paid for September and October. Thereafter, during the course of the day, I received a call from a rather rude debt collector and when I told her that I didn’t understand why she was calling me as I had settled my account, she hung up. Last night, my card wouldn’t work when I shopped for a few basics at Woolies after work. That wasn’t a problem for me per se, but it was awkward. The point is that I did not, at any stage, receive either an email or an SMS from WFS about my September account. Instead, I had my time wasted by a debt collector yesterday and suffered the embarrassment of a fully paid credit card not working in store. I am not a delinquent and do not appreciate being treated as one. Today I resolved to terminate my Woolworths Financial Services credit card because I don’t need it and do not appreciate being treated with contempt. As a result, I phoned the call centre twice, asking how to terminate my card, using productive time, just to be cut off twice, without a hint of a call back. The sound was poor and I do not know what to think. To add insult to injury, I had more time wasted by a separate call from WFS about me being eligible to increase my credit limit, which I politely declined, as I don’t need it. Right here, right now, I’m thinking that the negatives of using a WFS credit card far outweigh the benefits. The same goes for shopping at Woolworths. I do not need these complications in my life.
