I Found A ****roach In My Tray Of Woolworths Wings
I am escalating a serious food safety incident due to Woolworths’ unacceptable lack of urgency and accountability.
On 19 February, I bought chicken wings from the Woolworths Canterbury Crossing store. Upon opening the sealed packaging at home, I discovered a dead ****roach inside the tray, in direct contact with the chicken. This is a clear contamination issue and a serious breach of basic food safety standards.
I reported this immediately via direct message on Woolworths’ X account and comp**** with every request for information. Despite this, the handling of the matter has been slow, disorganised, and frankly unacceptable. Over a month later, I have still not been reimbursed.
Let me be clear: this is not a minor inconvenience. This is a health risk. The expectation that a customer must follow up repeatedly and wait weeks to be refunded for contaminated food is unreasonable and reflects poorly on Woolworths’ internal processes.
Woolworths markets itself as a premium retailer with high quality and hygiene standards. Incidents like this directly contradict that positioning, and the delayed response only makes it worse.
At this stage, I am no longer asking, I expect:
Immediate reimbur*****t for the contaminated product A formal explanation of how this incident occurred Clear accountability and confirmation of corrective measures taken at supplier and store level
The current handling of this matter suggests a lack of urgency around food safety complaints, which is deeply concerning.
I attempted to resolve this privately. Woolworths’ failure to act within a reasonable timeframe has forced this escalation.
This matter now requires immediate attention.
