I bought and drank expired lemonade

On the 16 May 2015 I bought sparkling cloudy lemonade. because I was thirsty I drank it without checking a crucial point, which is the expiring date. It tasted rather off but it only hit me the following day that I checked the best before date. It expired 3 days before I bought it. What is up with that?
