Frustration with a gift card.

I was given a R150 gift card for my birthday. It was rejected when I tried to use it online. I phoned the helpline, I was told they would look into the matter and send an email. Nothing has happened thus far. I went into the store, tried to resolve the matter, unsuccessful. I was phoned by an agent today telling me the problem will be looked into as I have tried to use it online and will take up to 7 days. My frustration is mounting. The card has been paid for by the friend who bought it for me, I cannot use it. They are making a huge issue out of R150. I would think that their immaculate reputation is worth far more than splitting hairs about R150. Why can they not merely de-activate the card and issue me with a R150 WW store card which I can use and the money will be safe into their hands when I spend it. I will not recommend anybody using a gift card as an option.
