Finally Resolved: Incorrect Woolworths Credit Bureau Reporting

After a long and frustrating process, my **Woolworths account has finally been updated correctly on my credit profile.

For months my account was incorrectly showing arrears, even though the account formed part of a completed debt review and had already been paid and cleared. All my other accounts under debt review were updated correctly with the credit bureaus, which clearly showed that the issue was only with the Woolworths account.

During this process, I explained the situation multiple times. Unfortunately, the consultant assisting me, Carmen Hansby, kept insisting that it was the responsibility of my debt counsellor to resolve the issue. I asked multiple times for the matter to be escalated to someone with proper knowledge of the debt review process so that the case could be properly investigated, but my requests were not taken seriously.

My debt counsellor had already completed everything required from his side, yet the issue continued to be blamed on him rather than being properly investigated.

In the meantime, I emailed ConsumerFriend, the department that handles their debt review clients, and explained the issue I had been struggling with. They finally responded today and confirmed the following:

“Woolworths advised that they have written off the balance. The write-offs and block codes have been completed, and the account has now finally been updated.”

While I am relieved that the matter has been resolved, the process caused unnecessary stress and delays while I am trying to rebuild my financial profile. I hope that in future situations matters like this can be investigated more thoroughly so that customers do not have to go through the same frustrating experience.
