Exchange process

I pyrchased items on the quality sale sadly i went to return the items as they do not fit well within 30 days of purchase but was told because I was suppose to return within 3 days because its on sale. Is i even fair to waive a consumers right to exchange an item because its on sale that is unfair and to request that it should be done within 3 days is ridiculous.
