Disappointment at Woolworths
Even though I love shopping at Woolworths despite the fact that products from the food section are more expensive than at some other store.
However, my experience in aying via debit- or credit card is dismal. It is theonly store in the country where my cards have ever been declined and this leads to embarrassment in front of other shoppers and staff members. During the past week this happened again when I shopped at the Sunninghill food store. I paid with a debit card, but it was declined despite entering the correct pin number. after a few times I noticed that the machine changed my option from debit card to cash card every time. I insisted on talking to the manger. she took me to a different pay point, but the same thing happened. I showed her that the device chaged the option and she then directed me to an aTM some distance away to withdraw cash. On one hand this prevented me from earning Ucount points and as I walk with a crutch it was quite inconveneint.
The other problem I have, is with my Woolworths credit card. During lockdown I was given the option that my debit order could be suspended for a couple of months. I declined this option, but it was done in any case. I have been phoned a couple of times and every time I indicated that the debit order needed to be reinstated. During the phone call yesterday I insisted that the relevant form should be sent to me so that I could arrange a debit order again.
The frustration that I have experienced does not seem to be worth the effort and I wonder if this state of affairs must just be accepted. The embarrassment experienced when a card is declined is just not worth it. For security reasons I have very little cash in my purse and I would rather shop where I do not have to put up with with any hassles.
