DEPLORABLE CUSTOMER TREATMENT
I never thought I would ever see the day where I would ever be referred to as "HOSTILE", however to my surprise, yesterday was the day that this horrible occurrence became my reality. Reflecting back on the incident I wish it would have occurred in a far more dignified way rather than me being addressed in the most inappropriate manner in a queue.
This afternoon I was referred to as being hostile by your teller working at counter 3 at your Dean Street store in Cape Town after I had politely asked why your staff was not present to assist customers on the shop floor. Distressed by your rude security guard whom I tried to seek assistance from and frustrated by the 5 minutes of loitering, this was not the response I had expected and the response that was warranted. As a brand that supposedly prides itself on customer service, the event which displayed customer service that was not exemplary left me disgusted to say the least.
It is important to note that this was not first time that I had experienced difficulty at this particular store and have chosen to complain this time because of the blatant disrespect that I was subjected to. You state on your website that your values are being "customer obsessed, inspirational, responsible as well as collaborative" and it is very clear that your team has mastered this.
Sadly, the part you fail to mention is that these values are driven by DISRESPECT, accounting for why you are constantly losing customers. Today I have joined the myriad of dissatisfied customers and will no longer be supporting your organisation due to its constant mistreatment of them!!! I do not want to call my experience contemporary ****** but it is exactly that. Had a white person done the act of merely asking "why there wasn't anyone on the shop floor to assist individuals" they would have not been addressed in the manner in which I was.
I WOULD LIKE TO FURTHER POINT OUT THAT I MESSAGED WOOLWORTHS ON INSTAGRAM AND I ASSUME THAT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A PUBLIC OUTCRY FOR EVERYONE TO SEE, THEY FELT THE NEED NOT TO RESPOND.
