CONTACTED WOOLWORTHS VIA TELEPHONE AND EMAIL ON 14-01-2020 - NO RESPONSE TO DATE, NOT EVEN AN ACKNOWLEGMENT OF RECEIPT OF EMAIL

NO RESPONSE RECEIVED!!!!

I would like bring to your attention my utmost disappointment and frustration regarding my Woolworths Credit Card.

This card was activated approximately a year ago and I have NEVER used it. A few months ago I have been receiving telephone calls from a collection company advising that my account is in arrears. This came to me as a huge surprise knowing full well that I have never used this card since the onset of receiving the card.

However, the lady whom I did speak to, advised that it was the service fees charged on the account that has accumulated the arrears (which was never brought to my attention before this conversation). I have not receive any sort of notification from Woolworths to inform me on this. If I did receive any notification, this would have been paid on time like I did with every other account I have.

Anyways, after my conversation with the lady, I did pay the outstanding amount of about R122 (in my opinion, for absolutely nothing as I did not utilize this account!).

So yesterday I contacted Woolworths Financial Services as I wanted to utilize the account. Lo and behold, I was told by the first consultant I spoke to, Amith, that this account was handed to attorneys and closed. This was a shock. He then transferred me to another department because he couldn’t answer any other questions of mine. I then spoke to Robin, who looked into the account and basically told me what I already heard from the previous guy. Again she advised that it would be best to speak to someone in the collections department.

She did get a hold of Bronwyn and I was transferred. At this time I was furious with what has transpired and Bronwyn did not make it any better. She was terrible at providing a the great service which Woolworths believes they do. She placed me on hold for almost 15 minutes each time without getting back to me.

All I was hearing was, there’s nothing that they can do, and that I can re-apply for another card!....this was really ****ing me off more than anything. Finally James Steenberg, took my call, he said he was a Manager. Also not much help from him.

He also mentioned that I could re-apply for a card, that was not my concern…I explained this to him as well. My biggest concern is, I have not known, up until my call to Woolworths yesterday that my account was handed over to Attorneys!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An account that was NEVER utilized AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have never know this had I not made that call yesterday. This could tarnish my credit history if not already.

I need a proper explanation immediately!

Why wasn’t I aware of this???

Why didn’t I receive any sort of notification from Woolworths from the onset of this account.???

I have a Woolworths store account, that I receive monthly statements via email so why wasn’t I receiving anything for the credit card???

What is Woolworths going to do to rectify this situation???

Should I not receive any feedback within the next two working days, I will be talking this up further and you have just lost a loyal consumer….but I don’t think this will mean anything to you because you have millions of consumers so losing one more consumer would hurt!…..that’s the sad reality of how we as consumers are treated!
