Cashier asked me to go and sell items myself

I bought items at Woolworths Maponya mall which was on sale in March and I tried to return some of the items in April. I was told by the service consultant that I have to go and sell those goods myself as they cannot take accept them anymore. As a result I left those item at the counter cause I was very upset with the response and the service that I received, She went on to call the manager whom did not come as a result I left very disappointed from the store.
