Call-centre blues

I acquired a black Woolworths credit card in late February/early March, and although I have enjoyed the benefits, I have found dealing with repayments, and chasing them up via the call-centre very non-gratifying. Having arranged a payment, and it not reflecting on my account balance, I made a call to the call centre, to be told that I had used the incorrect reference number - as my card had been issued in-store, the actual "token number" was different, and I should use the account number on the invoice. After a few days, when there was credit activity on my account reflecting my initial payment, I made a further payment, and when this duly did not appear on my account, I phoned again, to be told that the account number I had used for my payment reference (the account number on the invoice, as previously instructed), was my WWRewards number, and was given another number to use for future payments - one that does not appear on any documentation I had received to date. I waited the stipulated 2-4 working days, and once that period had expired, with no credit activity on the account, I phoned again to dry the payment allocated to my account. Following this I have made a third payment, and despite recurring an email from Woolworths, acknowledging the payment, I am still waiting for it to reflect on my account. A fourth call yesterday revealed the "reason" being the fact that the proof of payment had been received from my bank rather than from my email address, and thus want deemed valid. Really, how many barriers can you put in place against payment of a bill?
