Beware Woolworths credit card purchases

Woolworths' dealings with their own card customers is appalling. As an attorney I was required to settle an account on behalf of a customer but received no satisfaction from enquiries made to Woolworths. We were eventually referred to their attorneys who never acknowledged correspondence or provided figures or explanations or acknowledged receipt of payment, or advised Woolworths of the payment (over R70 000.00) or actually paid this over to Woolworths, or responded to emails or telephone calls. Woolworths simply allow card purchases to get beyond reasonable limits and then charge usurious interest rates of 22%.
