<p>I had a horrible experience yesterday at Woolies Rosebank where I was accused without cause for *****ing a perfume. Mind you I was already out of the store (and the alarm did not ring), but security racially profiled me and concluded that I had definatey ****** the perfume. When I calmly responded and said I had put it back where I took it from, he kept asking where (in a very accusory & intentionally humiliating tone). I eventually offered to show him where I had put it as I was now thoroughly frustrated. He then switched his tone and started apologising & saying there was no need for this. I then left the store but returned a few minutes after that because I was upset at the entire occurance. I requested the presence of management who I explained the story to, the security officer who had accused me also explained his side (which confirmed my story despite him initially trying to omit some detail). When I asked why other custmers did not receive this same treatment there was utter silence. I then expressed my opinion that this would have NEVER happened if I wasnt black. I was then promised that they would contact me today whilst holding an investigation & following their procedures in this regard. I have been ignored despite my complaints on twitter. I have not even been given an apology in the meantime whilst they attempt to figure out what happened. I dont want the perpetrator of this unfair treatment to be dismissed. I merely want there to be an investigation & remedial action. Training of workers is in imperative. Especially in a society like ours where prejudices & stereotypes are constantly at the fore. This is unacceptable!</p>
