Being charged for a credit card monthly that i have never used

Being charged for a credit card monthly that I have never used. I was advised that i will be charged an initial fee when i final use the card by never that i will be charged a monthly fee. The card has never been used and i want it closed as I just found out it now stands at over R250 for absolutely no reason.
