Bad quality shoes - Woolworths Country Road

I bought two pairs of lace-up “leather” shoes in November 2016 at Woolworths Clearwater – Country Road and Cresta Mall – Country road for R1000+ a pair.

The caramel brown pair sole chipped after I had worn the shoes once and the other black pair is tearing on the left hand side. I took both pairs to Clearwater mall on the 25th of November 2016. When I got to the counter, I explained what had happened and the sales guy called other gentleman. He had a look at the caramel brown pair as said it wasn’t a quality issue and the fact that I had intentionally chipped my shoes. I then asked the guy to tell me where the incident occurred since he was “telling” me that I had intentionally damaged the shoes. Who in the right minds would waste so much money? Really? He then called another sales lady by the name of Sli/Sne. I explained my story for the 3rd time, she said they haven’t had complaints from other customers therefore my case was dismissed. I told her the fact that others haven’t complained is not my problem. I was alone when I purchased the shoes and her reasoning was unsatisfactory.

I told her about the other black pair that was in the car, I insisted getting the shoes from the car. She then made a remark that I clearly have a problem in a condescending tone. I told her that the amount of money that I had spent on both pairs wasn’t worth the quality of the shoes.

She then took pictures of the brown pair and said she was going to show it to her “Manager”. She promised to give a call on Monday which she did and practically said “it’s not our problem”. For a shop that is all about quality this is really unacceptable. I was not treated with the same respect that I had received when I was purchasing the goods.

I have used my hard earned money on something you made me believe “was worth the price”.

1. I know my rights as a client as prescribed in the consumer protection act
2. Fami****ize yourselves with the 6 Treat Customer Fairly principles
3. I demand a refund – both pairs. I have lost interest. I can get quality pairs elsewhere.
