Bad Customer service
Today I went into the Woolworths Canal walk store at about 13h00, I was there to exhange a gift I had gotten. A lady from the customer service tills assisted me she had to confirm with a manager because apparently the gift was a high priced item which was fine I waited while the lady went to speak to her manager who wasn't far from where I was standing. The strange thins that this manager called Jacques has to take a peak at me before he could make his decision, the lady came back to me and said they needed more details about the item, I told the nice lady that it was impossible for to give her those details as I was gifted and not know exactly who gifted as I had a lot of people that gave me gifts, they said they couldn't help.I requested to speak to this manager who basically repeated the same thing and I asked him what would happen in my case because I don't have these details he said I needed the receipt for it, I then had to repeat myself again and reminderd him of Woolworths' return policy but this guy refused to exhange this item and said it was a manager's discretion. I asked to speak to someone higher and waiting for about a good 30 minutes no updates from anyone to tell me what was going on. Eventually this Jacques guy comes back to tell me that he couldn't find anyone to assist me. He made few calls infront of me and told me someone was coming to assist me and so I waited. After 20 minutes a guy named Kevin who was also a manager came by but was not there to assist but to assist someone else which was fine, another lady(employee) called this Kevin guy and told him my story, I was sitting right there when they spoke over my head. This guys said not addressing me "What does she want, didn't she speak to a manager already and why is she wasting our time' he turned a looked at me and rudly asked me "what do you want, didn't you speak to a manager already? What do you thing is going to happen because nothing will change" I calmly rep**** and said "excuse me, are you here to help me? He said "No someone else is coming but nothing will change" I didn't ask him what he was talking about because initially he did not address me. I told him I had a right to request for further assistance if I am not pleased with the manager that had already dealt with me. then left me hanging like that. I have never ever been belittled the I way this guy did, he practically took a look at my face and treated me like trash in front of his staff! It's shocking and sad that at this day and age, the colour of my skin played a role in whether I deserved respect or not as a customer. I sat there humiliated by a manager. I don't know if that's how all Woolworths customers are treated but I will not take it. I want the Woolworths executives to see this and I also want the Ombudsmen to see this and tell me if it is acceptable. I will not rest until Kevin has been dealt with accordingly!
