I went to Woolworths at Nicolway on 03/11/2017 to buy 4 tin roof ice cream which was on special (2 x 2litres for R100) Upon my arrival at the store, they only had 3 tubs left in the fridge. I then asked one of the guys on the floor to check if they have more in stock at the back, he returned and said there was nothing left. Now, if you look at this from a technical perspective, there is no way that there will be an odd ice cream tub left. Someone at Woolies made a boo boo. This should not actually happen, but it did. Seeing now that I was faced with 3 tubs, I then requested this floor guy to allow me to have the odd ice cream tub at R50.00 since the special was 2 for R100.00, and he blatantly refused, and stated that he could not make that decision, (fair enough). I then asked to speak to his superior, and a guy named Andre also failed to reason with me or understand me, instead he said NO and went on to say I must go to Maponya mall or Jabulani mall in Soweto. How appauling is that? In fact I don’t even live near those 2 malls. I found that utterly off and disgusting and rude and uncalled for, and I did not even want to make it a racial issue because that is just overdone. I then paid for the 2 tubs and left the store in a state of disbelief. On the 4th of Nov 2017, I was still unsettled about Andre’s rudeness and posture, so I decided to call their customer care line and relayed my story. I was told I will receive a call from the store on Monday 06/11/2017. Indeed on Monday I received a call from Rani (store manager) she apologised and asked to come to the store during the course of the week when I get a chance. I went to the store and met with Rani and she said Andre said I’m the one who refused when he offered me the 3rd tub for R50. Like how psychotic is this Andre guy? Now he is spinning the story because he failed to be of service at the point of sale. As a loyal woollies customer, this experience has really left a bitter taste in my mouth.
