Another Wonderful Woolies Experience

Hi.

I purchased "Pre-Soak Cookware Cleaner" at Menlyn Woolworths after seeing an ad on its efficacy.

From my perspective the price was R49. At the till it rang up as R89.

To cut a long story short, the real price was hidden behind a "Try Something New".

I was under the impression that the Consumer Act needs to display the price in an unambiguous manner

When I complained to the manager het let me know in a rather aggressive manner that Woolworths policy requires that price displays runs from left to right and it is my responsibility to get it right (rather aggressively I must add). I turned away and left.

It was a deeply unsatisfying engagement and response as the manager did not bother to introduce him self or provide context (we are human and make mistakes).

What really gets my goat, is (1) that it is not the first time that I got a incorrectly priced item at Woolies and (2) I know that I will go back as many of the items they stock are not generally available.
