I had an account with Woolworths which fell into arrears when I lost my job and was subsequently unemployed for more than 2 years, during which I paid Woolworths store. They then called me few months later that the account was long handed over to debt collection agency and I should have been paying with debt collectors instead. My numerous explanations that the arrears were settled and the account closed fell on deaf ears. Visiting Woolworths in store to try and sort the matter out proved counterproductive as they simply told me that the account has been handed over to their debt collection agency and it is my responsibility to sort out the matter with the debt agency (which would have added enormous interests to the principal debt that I had already paid to Woolworths).<br> <br> It is my contention that Woolworths should put their house in order and stop victimising me over an account that has been paid.
