If Woodstock would stock wood... oops, BREAD!

A few months ago, when the Organic Zone shop in Rondebosch closed down, I scouted the Woodstock suburb for the whereabouts of this special baker. Little did I know that it was in Salt River... Finding it was another story. No one in the vicinity knew about it, till a passerby mentioned looking behind the Deckle Edge in Brickfield rd. The bakery has large premises, with a woodfire industrial-sized oven and a legion of men clad in white. Nothing would have prepared me for the variety of health breads and confectionery waiting behind a screen: Sourdoughs, ciabattas, brioches, croissants, german loaves, farm breads, scones, rotis, and last week HOT CROSSBUNS!!! Even Woolworths doesnt make them as good... Here's a tip. To get in use the driveway with a sliding gate next to BUCO, else you will have to walk higher up to a narrow alley leading to the back of the bakery... The head baker is even more friendly than his colleagues at the Biscuit Mill
