Wonga, Dishonest & *********

I took out a 3 month short term loan in July 2018. By the end of October 2018, I settled the full amount of the loan. On the 2nd of July 2021, I received a call from Norman & Bisette claiming that I owe Wonga money and that I should make a payment immediately. I informed them that I don't have an active loan with Wonga and that the last time I had a loan with Wonga was in 2018 and I informed them that I had paid up the loan in full. I contacted Wonga and they had informed me that I don't owe them any money and that the account is paid up in full. The consultant said she would escalate the matter to Back Office. Nothing ever came out of it. 15 September 2021, I received an SMS from Nimble saying I need to get on top of my financial game by paying my Wonga account immediately. I called Nimble (Norman & Bisette) and they informed me that I owe R72 on my Wonga account. I informed them that my Wonga account was paid up in 2018 and haven't taken a loan out since then. I called Wonga and spoke to a consultant named Lisa. She also informed me that my Wonga loan was paid up in October 2018. She also informed me that my account was sold over. She told me that she couldn't understand why my account was sold over because my loan was paid up in full long before my account was sold over. She said she would escalate the matter to Back Office AGAIN. I must wait for a paid up letter or they will withdraw my account. This Wonga drama has affected my Credit Rating. Nimble is showing on my Credit Report. I am taking the steps to report Wonga to the Credit Ombudsman.

Hi Naseema,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

We have reviewed what transpired on your Wonga account and can confirm that your loan has not been settled.

This is the loan that was taken out on the 16 May 2018, thus your account being sold to Nimble.

You may contact them on *** and they will be happy to assist you with a statement.

Thank you for your patience.

The Wonga team.

What a load of bull****. I just got off the phone again now with Wonga. They have confirmed for the third time that I do not owe Wonga anything. I have my bank statements here in front of me showing payments to Wonga. Another thing Wonga would not offer me another loan unless the previous loan was paid up in full. Just so that you know I took another loan out with Wonga in July 2018. That too is paid up in full. I think it's time to get a lawyer involved.

I took out a R8000-00 Wonga loan in May 2018. On 31 May 2018, I made a payment of R1401-26. On the 11th of June 2021, I requested a settlement letter from Wonga. The settlement amount was R6226-18. On the 11th of June 2018, I made a direct transfer from my Fnb account to Wonga to the amount of R6226-18. My bank statement proves that I owe Wonga absolutely nothing. So come with another lie. I am prepared. The truth always wins

Yes please do that because I am seeking legal advise and considering steps to sue Wonga for mental anguish and stress because someone somewhere along the line did not do their job properly

So all I get is a measly half ass apology. Last week you were so adamant that I still owe money on my Wonga loan. My credit rating was affected. My stress levels and mental anguish means absolutely nothing, right?

Hi Naseema,

Thank you for your response.

We have escalated your account to our Collections Team as well as our

debt collections agencies to further investigate why the system is still reflecting a balance.

They fed back to Wonga with a conclusion that the loan has been paid and is settled in full.

When we investigated your account the system still showed a balance and did not  update.

Our debt collections agency added all the payments made and updated the system on their end

and they have emailed you paid up letters and have sent an update request to all

credit bureaus to have your ITC profile updated.

Kind Regards

The Wonga Team.
