 Hi there,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention – and we’re really sorry to hear about your experience. What you’ve described is not how Wonga operates, and it does appear to be a **** attempt impersonating our brand.

For clarity:

Wonga will never ask for any upfront payment to approve or release a loan.
We do not offer or process loans via WhatsApp, Facebook or personal mobile numbers.
To help protect yourself (and others), here are a few key tips to spot ****s:

  • 🚩 Upfront fees: Legitimate lenders do not require payment before issuing a loan.
  • 🚩 Unofficial channels: Be cautious of offers made via WhatsApp, SMS, or personal email accounts.
  • 🚩 Pressure tactics: ******** often rush you or use ************ to force quick decisions.
  • 🚩 Too-good-to-be-true offers: Large loan approvals despite low credit scores should raise concern.
  • 🚩 Unverified documents: Always double-check the sender and authenticity of any “loan agreements.”

In future, please access our loan applications process via our verified website only: https://www.wonga.co.za. Additional tips on how to spot these attempts can be found here: https://www.wonga.co.za/blog/top-tips-for-avoiding-phishing-****s.

We strongly encourage you to report this incident to your nearest SAPS station and avoid further engagement with the number provided.

Please also share the Facebook details/link with us so we can investigate further and take appropriate action.

Your safety matters to us, and we appreciate you flagging this.

Kind regards,
The Wonga Team

Best regards,
