Sharks that disregard the law

I am currently extremely ill with COVID. Unfortunately my payment to myself is delayed as such my debit orders have not gone off accordingly.

My debit order for Wonga was due on 28 May 2022, so effectively should have been taken on Monday. Let me tell you how ******* this company is in terms of their practice, as well as how they do not apply their own terms and conditions that are on their websites. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY there are plenty options available which handle themselves in an ethical manner.

According to their website they will call if a debit order has not gone off. Find out what is going on, and for plans to me made accordingly with them. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. 30 May 2022 I was handed over to Blake Attorneys by Wonga. For a payment that was at the time 1 day late. Not only is this against their own practices, as stated by the website. It is also against the rules stipulated in the act that if I am in default for more than 20 business days a creditor is required to give a debtor written notice of intention to hand over, and should payment not be received 7 days after said notification legal action may be taken. I WAS HANDED OVER AFTER 1 BUSINESS DAY WITH NO NOTIFICATION! The NCR will love this.

I WILLLNOT BE PAYING FEES FOR BLAKE ATTORNEYS WONGA! A simple call would have resolved everything, which did not happen. My credit record is now reflecting being handed over to attorneys with the law being completely disregarded. To add insult to injury I am sick and being harassed by attorneys that should not have my details.

A simple apology for this entirely ********* practice will not be acceptable, and I am in the process of determining how to lay a complaint with the NCR.

I cannot stress enough that dealing with this company is a very bad idea!

Hi Jo-Anne,

We humbly apologize for the inconvenience caused.

We can confirm that Wonga does not do internal collections and works

with debt collections agencies that collects on Wonga's behalf.

Blakes and Associates will not be charging any additional fees due to Wonga's

arrears interest and fees charged on a failed debit order and it  is stipulated

in the loan agreement that you accepted.

Your debit order date was set for the 28th and it fell over a weekend and Wonga

sends notifications that should your debit order date fall over a weekend

or public holiday, will we debit the working day before the weekend.

Wonga attempted to debit your account on Friday the 27-05-2022 and has tracked your

account and once it stopped, the system automatically hands your account

over to our debt collections agency to set up a repayment arrangement.

You are more than welcome to take the matter up with the NCR and we will liaise directly

with the credit ombudsman and the regulator.

We once again apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your patience.

The Wonga Team.
