Shame on you Wonga loans

I took out a 3-month loan with Wonga on 17/01/2026. I settled the account on 15/05/2026. Wonga does not update on the ITC, the account still reflects as unpaid. I have tried to inform them; however, they have just refused to remove the listing. I regret trusting this loan shark. Please be aware they are credit life destroyers.

Hi Sifiso,

We have looked into your account and can see that you recently settled your loan. Given this scenario the information below applies to your case:

As a responsible lender when you app**** for the loan, we ran a credit check with TransUnion – a well-known Credit Bureau in South Africa. Now that your Wonga loan is closed we
will alert TransUnion to update your credit record with this information.

We send information daily to TransUnion to be updated and so your Credit Record should reflect this update within thirty working days of you repaying your loan.

In addition to this, we send a report once a month to the Credit Providers Association (CPA) with updated information for all the accounts closed during that month. This report
is then circulated by the CPA to the remaining Credit Bureaus.

If the thirty-day period has passed and your credit report has not been updated, please provide us with a copy of your credit report from Compuscan, Experian or Transunion in order
to request for the profile to be updated

Regards
Wonga Team
