Advertising Lies - Not Happy...

Dear Wonga, I have used your service a number of times over recent years, always repaying my loans on time and in full. I have never been late with a payment, or defaulted on a sum. A large part of my decision to use your service was your promise on your website at the time that you would report my good conduct to credit reference agencies, and this would improve my credit standing. I kept faith with my part of this agreement and paid all my debts to you on time. At the time, your services showed upon my credit file as “Loan”, and my full and prompt payment of account did indeed have a positive impact on my credit file. However, it seems that since then, yourselves or Credit Bureau's, have decided to list them separately as “payday loans”, and this has now been quoted to me by other lenders as the reason for them declining my applications, and has in fact now cost me vehicle financing and the car of my dreams. As such, I feel I am being made to suffer undue hardship because of this retrospective change, especially as at no time did I breach any agreement with yourselves, and always met my promise to pay. Note that this change means that the advertising you ran at the time stating that use of your services would improve my credit rating is now incorrect. As I entered into an agreement with you on the basis of this advertising, I believe this has formed a collateral contract. I also believe that this retrospective change is a breach of the NCR principle of Treating Customers Fairly. I would like to request you remove all settled accounts from my credit file, as a goodwill gesture, in order to resolve my complaint. I look forward to hearing from you.

Looks like I'm not the only one who complained about this. Wonder what the outcome was for the gentleman who complained below. Wonga is definitely a disservice to everyone... :( "Multiple accounts impacting credit score negatively I am in the process of cleaning up my credit history. I found out that each time I apply for a Wonga loan, a new account is created at ITC. Other credit providers simply reopen the old account to prevent multiple accounts appearing on your credit report. This is the second time I am reporting this. Last time I was reassured that it works in my favor. After applying for a home loan which was rejected because of multiple Wonga accounts on my credit report, I am now sure that it is impacting negatively on my credit score. Please remove old accounts from my credit report. They are doing me a disservice. Even if they are to my benefit, I don't want them. Those loans are paid up and closed anyway."

Hi David,

We notify the relevant credit bureaus to update all customer credit profiles immediately, once a loan is settled. It may take the credit bureau 7-30 days to action this accordingly on their systems.

Thank you for chatting to Sonja from our Customer Resolutions team.

We have escalated your complaint to all the relevant credit bureaus to update your account with a "paid" and "closed" status for the loans in question.

Thank You
The Wonga Team

Hi Wonga, as discussed with Sonja. They are marked as "paid" & "closed". I want them removed from my credit report, because the advertising on your website is false. Please see what you can do, otherwise I'm left with no choice but to escalate this to NCR. If that fails, then I will get my attorney involved with the screenshots I took from your website... Thanks
Wonga
