A blessing in disguise

I have been a loyal customer for a long time and to my surprise today I am declined. I called in and for the first time ever, didn't have to hold for 20 minutes and immediately spoke to a consultant. They checked my profile and I was told that I did not meet the criteria due to new regulations that they have had to implement in compliance to the National Credit Act. I don't have a problem with that, I have a problem with the fact that they, as a company, did not have the DECENCY to send out correspondence (emailer) to all in sundry to inform them of the impending new criteria. If we had known this was going to happen, we could have planned and made alternative arrangements but NO they will send you all the junk under the sun but not such important information. It actually is a blessing in disguise because now I know I am rid of this ridiculous debt which I need not incur and their fees were quite high so lesson learnt! Thanks for *****ing us over Wonga and simultaneously I am glad to be rid of you!

Hello CANDRIES,

Dear Candice,
Thanks for your message. The recent amendments to the National Credit Act has required Wonga and other credit providers to tighten up the lending criteria on loan applications. These amendments may impact the approval of loan applications going forward.
We included the amendments to the NCA in the May newsletter which went out to customers earlier this week. Hope you received this? If not, let me know and I will send it on to you again.

Kind regards,
Priscilla Urquhart (Head of Communications, Wonga SA)
