Frustrated customer

I have had the most frustrating experience with wize books in Pretoria.

On the 11/07/2019 I placed an order for my second semester textbooks with Wize Books because they were cheaper, they delivered and I had had a good experience with them when I studied at Varsity College Sandton. I placed my order for the 12 books and payed. I was then informed that they didn’t have all the textbooks and would deliver half of the order to me in 2 days and the other half would come in a week or two. I understood completely because it was a new semester and everyone was ordering textbooks.

When my first order was delivered, I opened my package and saw that there was no protective bubble wrap or anything in the box to keep my books in a good condition, but just brushed that off. When I saw that I didn’t need the two textbooks I took them back to wize books to return them and collect my other half of my order. This is where everything went wrong. Firstly they refused to accept the one book because it was in a bad condition and “this was not the condition it was sent in”, and when I tried to argue that this is exactly the condition it was sent in I was dismissed and told they wouldn’t accept it. I then dropped that and tried to return the second textbook and was only told then that they have a 20% handling fee ? This book was not even opened and was still in the packaging? After arguing and getting no where I decided to drop it and just ask for my refund. They sent me from counter to counter where no one could help me. I then asked for the manager whose name is Jenny and was greeted with an unpleasant woman with a condescending tone. She was rude, unhelpful and refused to listen to what I had to say. She then told me that they won’t give refunds to textbooks bought online in person, you have to apply for it online. I was also then told my textbooks have not arrived.

Fast forward 3 weeks. I am still waiting for my other textbooks. No one has informed me of anything. I finally phoned them to see what was going on and they’re waiting for 2 textbooks which are being printed specially for me, but did not tell me that this was happening. If I knew that this was going to happen I would’ve spent the extra R50 and bought them from the shop. I can now now get a refund for these two textbooks.

I am annoyed and exceptionally frustrated with their team and processes. The way they handle their clients is unprofessional and infuriating.

I do not recommend them
