Winners turn out to be losers!

We are a family of 5 and stay in Gauteng Alberton. We were invited to a 40th family birthday bash on the 27th January 2018 in Witbank. The invite was sent to us on 01 January 2018 - giving family enough time to plan accommodation etc. We immediately googled accommodation in Witbank and found Winners Guest House through bookings.com. We were so impressed with the price of R750.00 for the night, we booked immediately. Confirmation was sent to my email the same day. As it would be "the early bird catches the worm!". On the 22nd January 2018 I received an email from bookings.com to confirm that Winners Guest House was expecting us on the 27th January 2018. Just to double confirm as I am a bit of a perfectionist I tried calling the guest house, no answer and left messages. I then decided to call bookings.com to double confirm. A very pleasant lady said that if I received the confirmation via email everything would be in order. She offered to contact them while I held on the line, which I did. She came back on the line to confirm that the booking was all in order after holding on for 10 min. At around 09h00 this morning 26th January 2018 I received a call from Winners Guest House to advise that the rate which was quoted was incorrect, it was more and that they had guests which were supposed to check out, but have extended their stay. So unfortunately they can not accommodate us. All this, the day before we are supposed to check in! We have made alternate arrangements. As I am typing this email I have received a call from bookings.com to confirm our booking at Winners Guest House!!!!!!! To close off.........rather deal with huge consortiums. I would recommend Tsogo Sun / Stay Easy. They were extremely efficient!!!!!! and the price was good and remained the same. We are going to have a great stay!!!!!
