No one asked me for my number or to confirm my number as sender.

Date was 06/11/2024 at 10h06 went to the till to send funds through instant money service and iwas attended by Thandeka Mkhize as my cashier. She asked how much I want to send, I told her R1020, she said it will be R1030 including R9. 95 for the service. I understood. Thandeka asked for my ID book, I gave her,. She gave me the key pad to put number of recipient of funds, I did that. Thandeka asked I put the pin 2 times, I did so. The till machine beeps, she calls the floor manager, I asked what's going on she said this is a funny amount and the till is not taking it. The floor manager helped her and I get the slip. I took the picture of the slip sent it to the stokvel and called the recipient on her cell to provide her with the secret pin. 3 hours later the intended recipient calls me asking why I took the funds as she is unable to withdraw, when I look at the slip I I see the number for instant money service I called it to enquire only to be told that the funds were tried 3 times with the incorrect pin and a new pin was generated by the system and was sent to the number of the person who deposited the funds. When I look under the slip, the sender number is not my number. It dawns to me, the lady at the till Thandeka did not ask me anything about my number as a sender. I go back to spar Winklespruit, spoke to Thandeka at the till who attended, she says she got the number from the system, I ask her, did you confirm the number of sender with me, she says no because their system does not allow her to do so.

I asked for the floor manager who helped her during my transaction, manager says the same thing "Spar" systems have changed, they are unable to confirm the sender number, I must take it up with Standard bank. I call standard bank and I'm told that standard bank only provides the service, Spar must do the confirmation.

I went to the police station to open the case the following day and now it is 6 days in and I can't find a resolution.

All I know is that when I ask my friends, they say the process they know is that you are asked for your number 2 times and the number where the money is going. This was not done.

No one asked me for my number as a sender and no one asked me to confirm if the number that appear on screen is mine, only thing I was asked at the till is the phone number where money is going and a pin. Now I lost 1020 rands and standard bank says it's Spar, spar says its the standard bank system.

I owe the stokvel R1020.
