POPI act being blatantly ignored by Wingfield Motors

I submitted an application with the Wingfield motors finance department and expressly indicated that I do not wish to have my information shared for any marketing purposes. I got a new cell number a few years ago and purposefully kept this number away from marketing channels, so as to not be harassed by telemarketers. Wingfield motors ignored my marketing preferences and instead shared my details with multiple organisations who have since been harassing me on a daily basis. I followed up with the consultant who assisted me with my application and was told that they are forced to submit applications with express consent from clients to have their details distributed. I then asked how this is possible as this is not allowed by the POPI act. The consultant has not responded to this question and has ignored any subsequent emails I have sent to her. I sent these follow up emails to allow Wingfield motors to respond, but they seem to not be bothered.

I will be taking the matter up with the information regulator. However, other prospective clients of Wingfield motors should be made aware of the fact that the POPI act is being blatantly ignored by this organisation.
