Wimpy on Malibongwe's horrible and race bating service on Saturday 24 November 2018
Tsholofelo Gqitiyeza is my wife, and she will write her experience at Wimpy in Malibongwe on the 24 November 2018. This is her account of events:
I was waiting for my husband who had been called into work for an emergency meeting, and was with my 3 year old daughter at Wimpy in Malibongwe to order some breakfast for the both of us.
Upon entry, the waiters took us to a table and my daughter immediately left for the play area. I waited for a waiter to introduce themselves and offer me coffee or a juice for my daughter, but no one came. Shortly after, I saw a couple walk in, and I will mention that they were white people (it's important for my complaint against Wimpy not against them), who were escorted to their table as well. Soon enough they had drinks ordered, a waiter and I was still waiting for someone to even come to me.
After 25 minutes, I went to fetch my daughter at the play room and upon my return, an Indian family came in and was directed to my seat. As I was returning with my daughter, I found people at my seat and told the waiter that I was seated there. I became very angry and told the waiter that what they are doing is WRONG and furthermore, having to wait for 30 minutes to even get a beverage is an outrage. I made to leave but the manager asked that I remain seated and that he would deal with the issue, but at that point I felt my anger building up and opted to leave.
Your waiters have no idea of customer service. They didn't even check on us or make sure we had drinks at least. I am utterly disgusted by Wimpy's service and needless to say, this isn't our first experience of service provided to others based on the colour of their skin. We experienced this very same thing at Wimpy at the Engen garage in Beaufort West in December of 2017.
Disgusting!
