Terrible Service & Food - Wimpy (West Coast 1 Stop)

I have been visiting the Wimpy since I was a child - my granny used to take me every weekend. And as an adult, we were unable to take a road trip unless we stopped at the WImpy for a burger - it was a tradition. The taste of Wimpy has never changed, and that's what we all love about it! My point is that, in all the years I have been eating Wimpy burgers, not once have I ever been disappointed or received bad service - at Wimpy, tables are turned quickly, and thats part of what we love about it.

Anyway, let me get to my bad experience. Yesterday, on 17 June 2019, we were leaving Langebaan after a long weekend away. As per our normal tradition, we stopped at the Wimpy (West Coast 1 Stop). Firstly, it took roughly 20 minutes before anyone even looked in our direction, and the Wimpy was not busy at all. Once our food arrived, it seemed as though it had been standing for a while - everything was iced cold, including the chips. All 3 of us ordered the new lava burger - the cheese sauce was served in a pouring jug but had obviously been standing for a while because it had formed a hard skin layer on the top.

I can easily ignore all of that and still enjoy my Wimpy burger. But then there was a deal breaker for me - the Wimpy tomato sauce was not Wimpy tomato sauce, which I had come to know so well over the 35 years I had been eating it! The sauce had been watered down and literally came out of the bottle like water - it had a dark red colour (not at all like the normal wimpy tomato sauce) and literraly no taste. If you ask me, someone is trying to save some money by watering down the tomato sauce - its disgusting! You should maybe send a secret shopper to that Wimpy branch and see whether you have the same experience. I did think for a second that it may just be that one bottle of sauce, so I went over to another table and swapped out our tomato sauce - NOPE, same sauce - a runny, disgusting looking **** tomato sauce. Surely anyonhe who buys a Wimpy knows that the customers are not idiots and the Wimpy tomato sauce is very unique?!

Lastly, I wasnt too impressed with teh Bar One milkshake either - it was runny, like there was a teas**** of ice cream and the rest milk - for R41, I would expect possibly a little more ice cream.

I am not normally someone who complains, unless I really feel like it is necessary - and it this case, I think you should be aware that you have someone who is swapping out your signature tomato sauce for something completely sub-standard.

I just want to say that the lady who served us was absolutely lovely, and the complaint has nothing at all to do with her service.
