Appalling service and CPA non-compliance on defective R3,500 wheelchair
Shocking customer service and complete lack of support. I purchased a transporter wheelchair online from Healthcare & Mobility Africa for R3,500 less than six months ago. Under normal use, the mechanism on the arm broke off. When I reached out for assistance with a repair or replacement under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) 6-month statutory warranty, I was initially dismissed and told that this type of wheelchair was not covered by warranty. It was only after I formally pointed out my rights under the Consumer Protection Act and mentioned escalating the issue to the Ombudsman that their stance shifted, and they offered to replace the part—provided I brought the broken wheelchair into their store. I bought this item online specifically for delivery, and forcing a customer to transport a broken mobility product in-store to fix a defective unit purchased less than six months ago is unacceptable. To make matters worse, I was promised three separate times that a manager would call me back to resolve this. I am still waiting for that call. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and reluctance to assist customers with defective products is appalling especially for a company supplying essential medical and mobility equipment. Save yourself the frustration and steer clear of this company.

Misrepresented sales terms, false manufacturing claims, and refused refund of R17,000+ deposit
Review Title: Misrepresented sales terms, false manufacturing claims, and refused refund of R17,000+ deposit Review Body: I am extremely dissatisfied with the unfair deposit retention and misleading sales practices of this company. We conditionally signed for a bed with the explicit understanding that the remaining balance would only be paid if our policy paid out. Before signing, we directly asked the sales representative what would happen if the policy did not pay out, as we would not have the funds to complete the purchase. The sales rep explicitly assured us that in such an event, we could cancel the order within 6 months and receive a full refund of our deposit. The representative never mentioned any 5-day cancellation policy. Instead, he explicitly stated that: We agree on the below -We had up to 6 months to take delivery of the bed without forfeiting our deposit. -We needed to give them at least 3 weeks' notice before they would start manufacturing the bed. Furthermore, the transaction was processed on an iPad where the representative only displayed the financial figures and the signature field. The terms and conditions were never opened, shown, or explained to us. When I contacted the company to cancel and request a refund of our deposit of over R17,000, the representative who called me claimed that they had already started manufacturing the bed. This is a direct lie, as per our agreement, manufacturing was only supposed to begin after we gave 3 weeks' notice. When I questioned this, he said he would escalate the matter to his manager, Werner. Within minutes, I received an email from Werner, the Area Manager, refusing to refund our deposit. If manufacturing has not even started as per our initial agreement, what are they doing with our money? Retaining our deposit of over R17,000 based on undisclosed terms and false statements is completely unacceptable. It seems that some of their representatives may not be entirely transparent with customers. I've noticed similar concerns raised in several reviews over the past year. Although their HelloPeter reviews appear positive at first glance, I think it's worth digging deeper to get a more balanced picture of customers' actual experiences.
