Whitfields
Our complex had ground cables ****** which caused a power spike through out the whole complex blowing both our garage door motors and 13 other units were also affected. We contacted Whitfields as garage door motors are covered under building insurance and we were told that we must get a quote and they even gave us a list of preferred service providers. We got the guy out and he quoted and everything was then sent to Whitfields. This was the end of November. We were then advised by Whitfields that the quote needs to be a combined quote and the insurance company (TI Brokers) would send out an assessor. This only happened at the beginning of Feb so both our garage doors cannot lock and we have been like this since the incident which is a huge security risk.Eventually the quote was submitted only to be told that the amount claimed is over the limit for power surges which is R50000 the quote being over R200000 and we were also told that garage door motors are upgrades even though it states in the insurance contract that they are covered and every unit has garage door motors and the unit was purchased with the motors. Also all common area damages have been covered but no garage door motors. We have not got any feedback from our Body corporate as they are saying that it is between the owners and Whitfields to resolve but neither Whitfields or TI Brokers (Insurance)have had the decency to call a meeting to try and resolve this, all we get is email responses and our units are still damaged.
