White Pages **** & Ubungane Legal Collections

The White Pages **** continues unabated. I get calls regularly from people supposedly working Ubungane Legal Collections demanding that I pay an outstanding White Pages account. from 2019.

When they called me recently I was told that I had contracted and received a service and therefore I am liable for 5 years worth of fees + costs. Needless to say I have told them where to get off but it's still very annoying.

Their original document that they deem to be a contract, lists it as a "Free Service". The actual contract part is written in such a small font that it is hardly readable. Add to this the "copy and paste" letterhead and the rest of the wording in various different font sizes and one can see that this is not legit. Even their invoice is an Excel document with a similar copy and paste letterhead that has been converted to Pdf .

The Advocate for the Council Of Debt collectors, Adv. MJ Gildenhuys confirmed with me in October 2022 that this was indeed a **** and that they have no leg to stand on.

They seem to now be using a supposed legal firm to do their collections because the original company they used, ITC SUMMONS (PTY)Ltd, its director Viveka Naiker and two staff members, are no longer registered with the Council.

Be very wary of calls from the staff purporting to be from Ubungane Legal Collections and their bullying tactics. They now call from both landline and mobile phone numbers. I block them all.
