In March of this year i got a call from a lady saying she was calling to confirm our telkom listing and could i please complete the form emailed to the company to confirm details. i asked if there was a charge as our expenses are strictly controlled and would need to budget in the event of a cost, and was assured there was no charge. Telkom is an outdated medium on which to list (if one merely notices the drastic manner in which the directories themselves have shrunk over the years). I did as was asked. 3 weeks later i got a call of demand for an outstanding invoice which i had not even received. I was then emailed an invoice for a 12-month listing R9540.00 which charged no VAT i then reverted to the form i had completed, only to be disgusted to note in the tiniest of script there is a line which states the charge. it also states that you can cancel within 5 working days from invoice. STRANGE THOUGH HOW YOU DONT RECEIVE THE INVOICE IN TIME TO REACT AND CANCEL. At no point did we receive a quotation, and the consultant was clear there was no charge. we are now receiving weekly sms threats about handover, despite the lock down situation in the country. i now see on HelloPeter the copius amounts of companies who seem to have been duped the same way and i note with further interest that the company in question has not responded to any of the complaints laid against them. please can we get clarity on way forward. naturally we don't want a bad credit record, but are we expected to pay this **** (must be a **** if they don't even charge VAT yet claim to be a part of telkom)?
